Mark has been a member of the church since 1995 and joined the leadership team in 2007. He has oversight of worship and media ministries, is responsible for child protection and acts as the church social worker.
Mark has a particular passion for the development of ministries and initiatives that promote and strengthen family life.
Mark qualified as a social worker in 2000 and is a Practitioner Manager in the local authority’s children’s services department. He has been married to Susan for 24 years and they have two children.
Susan has been a member of the church since 1995 and joined the leadership team in 2007. She is a trustee, with a focus on strategic planning and leads a number of compassion ministries, including the Vale Foodbank.
Susan has a particular passion for community transformation through the development of compassion ministries, which demonstrate God’s love in practical ways to people in need.
A graduate of UCW Aberystwyth, Susan worked in social services for over twenty years before leaving to take up a position with a national charity (the Trussell Trust) as their area manager in South Wales. She has been married to Mark for 29 years and they have two adult children
Keith was brought up in a Christian family in the Anglican tradition, getting confirmed into the Church of England at about 14 years old, mainly so he could teach in their Sunday school. A few years later, a friend introduced him to a group of Christians involved in the newly growing Charismatic movement and he learned about a whole new dimension to his faith. Since then he has been involved in several churches, all of whom were on the Charismatic/Pentecostal edge of the mainstream Anglican movement, until he moved to Wales in 1991. He then started attending the Elim Church in Barry and subsequently moved to Coastlands when it was formed in 2003. He is a Trustee and the treasurer.
He has been married to Jan for 26 years. They have one son, who is married with a son of his own and now living just outside London. He works at Neath Port Talbot College, where he is Vice Principal – Operations, with a range of responsibilities including oversight of Estates, the College’s Higher Education courses, Marketing, and the College Nurseries. In his leisure time he enjoys listening to music, walking the family dog and reading.
Cathy has been married to Mike for 37 years and spent most of that time working alongside him in various church roles, raising her three children and is currently looking after two of her grandchildren two days a week.
Cathy has a diploma in counselling. She graduated with a degree in design in 1976 and enjoys painting in her spare time and likes to get involved in various other crafts.
Cathy is part of the Core team and brings a wealth of experience in pastoral and childrens work to Coastlands.
Rob was powerfully saved as a teenager in the Rhondda valley and graduated London Bible College in 1979. He has been involved in many church plants across South Wales over the years and retired from business in 2006 to be able to serve churches more widely across Wales.
Rob serves on the National Gweini Board, the national Waleswide Team and is also part of the New Wine National Team with responsibility for the South Wales valleys region.
Rob currently serves a number of churches in many parts of Wales in an oversight capacity and his life’s passion is worship.
Rob has been married to Gaynor for almost 30 years and they have two sons; Sam is a barrister and Jonathan is a doctor.
After graduating from Surrey University with a degree in Human Biology in 1979, Mike worked as a lecturer for two multinational computer companies for 7 years. He grew up as a Christadelphian, started preaching at 16, but was remarkably saved in 1982 after being baptised in the Holy Spirit. Mike felt God's call into full-time ministry some five years later and obtained a certificate in Biblical Studies at London Bible College. Mike has been a full-time pastor since 1988, serving a charismatic evangelical church in Reading and then Bethlehem Church Life Centre in Cefn Cribwr until November 2011. Mike also has a Masters degree in Missional Leadership from the University of Wales and has a passion for transforming church to transform community.
Mike started as lead pastor at Coastlands in January 2012 and is also chair of the trustees. He is married to Cathy and has three children and six grandchildren.
